I always dreamed of visiting Japan. After reading “Memoirs of a Geisha” my urge to visit this fascinating place grew even stronger and I just knew I had to go. Earlier last year I was fortunate enough to realise this dream and was able to travel there at the time of the cherry blossom.

I visited Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Mt Koyasan and Osaka. They were each very different but beautiful in their own way. From neon-lit streetscapes in Tokyo and Osaka to the historical Geisha district in Kyoto packed with traditional teahouses and spiritual Mt Koyasan, the Land of the Rising Sun proved as fascinating and atmospheric as I dreamt of.

It won’t be the last time I visit this enchanting country.
