Peter Mayhew, the actor behind (or inside of) Chewbacca the Wookie, recently revealed images on his Twitter from the creation of the original Star Wars trilogy, one of the greatest movie trilogies ever made. Some of the images are fascinating because they reveal how movie magic was performed in a day when CGI effects were nowhere nearly as advanced as they are now. Other pictures, accompanied by Mayhew’s hilarious captions, capture heart-warming interactions between the cast.

Almost everybody knows the Addams family – their creepy monochrome antics are a TV classic. Which makes these pictures all the more surprising, then – they indicate that the Addams family’s living room set was covered in pink, red, turquoise, and other decidedly non-Addams-family-ish colors. In black-and-white films, characters often had to wear strange shades of lipstick (like brown or green) to get the right shades to appear on black-and-white film.
Miles, a five-year-old boy in San Francisco who has been fighting leukemia since he was one year old, was given the opportunity to star in a cute and heart-warming city-wide drama as Batman, the caped crusader. In the city-wide event, which featured civilians, police and a full-fledged social media campaign, Miles, dressed as Batkid, got to join Batman in a black Lamborghini as they drove around the city to save people in danger and stop infamous criminals. This beautiful testament to human love and compassion was made possible by 11,000 Make-A-Wish volunteers and the city of San Francisco.
Degage Ministries and Design 1 Salon & Spa have created a time-lapse in which they gift homeless veteran Jim Wolf a makeover and a sharp new suit. Some detractors of the video have noted that the change is essentially superficial, but fans of the video argue that it has given Wolf the self esteem and motivation he needs to turn his life around.
These are some of the most hipster images ever. According to some, all it takes to be a hipster is to wear plaid shirts and Rayban sunglasses and drink Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. For others, it means gentrification, cultural elitism or insincerity and the over-use of irony.
When reddit user smartforever posted this magnificent picture of an old rhododendron (from Ancient Greek rhódon “rose” and déndron “tree”) on reddit, he probably made it the most famous rhododendron ever. Most rhododendrons are considered shrubs, but this one definitely could pass for a tree – it’s over 125 years old!
Usually, babies are brought to tears by a full diaper or because they’re hungry, but this baby has been brought to tears by the power of music. This video of a 10-month-old baby reacting emotionally when his mother sings Rod Stewart’s My Heart Can’t Tell You No has gone viral with millions of likes. And since we’re inclined to believe that 10-month-old babies can’t fake their emotions, we know that it’s true love!
These baby photos, jazzed up by artist and new mother Amber Wheeler, are a pleasure to see. Wheeler took simple photos of her baby son dressed in white on a white background and drew in designs with a simple computer illustration program. They put her baby boy everywhere from the open road or a hot air balloon to the final frontier of space.
Remember the amusing polls, when Europeans were asked to name which countries they though were the drunkest, hottest and silliest-sounding, etc? Seeing how successful the project turned out to be, Business Insider and SurveyMonkey’s Audience decided to carry out a similar poll in the US. They interviewed 1603 respondents, asking them questions that everyone jokes about around a dinner table, but that haven’t been officially published yet.
By the time we graduate high school, we learn that they never taught us the most interesting things in there. Sure, you might be able to name the European countries or point New York on the map, but does that give a you real understanding of how the world functions? To fill this gap, we have gathered a great and informative selection of infographical maps that will teach you things like most popular sports in different countries, who has the largest breasts, red hair map of Europe, world’s most consumed alcoholic beverages and much more.
