Little Matthew Swetnam was born with congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) and has started life with a lot of problems. Not only does he suffer from hepatitis and brain cysts, he is also deaf. On the 4th of August 2016, however, the University of Colorado Hospital gave Matthew an incredible gift when they fitted him with hearing aids at 4 months old.
The video below, uploaded to YouTube by Matthew’s mom, Erin Swetnam, shows the tender moment he hears her voice for the first time. His expression says it all. Grab a Kleenex box and watch.
