Alaçatı is located on the western coast of Izmir Province in Turkey. It is well-known for its architecture, vineyards and windmills. Şirince may seem like an ordinary small and beautiful village. The truth is jaw-dropping. Do you remember the 2012 Mayan Apocalypse? Şirince was one of the few places that was known to be a safe one for the future end of the world. A lot of people bought property in the small village or just planned to use it as a hideout. The 600 inhabitants of the village had to share the scarce area with around 60 000 visitors. The world didn’t end but the village became well-known and turned into a preffered tourist destination.
